Call for Chapters: Beers, Ciders & Spirits

Beers, Ciders & Spirits: Craft Beverages and Tourism in the U.S. will be edited by

Carol Kline, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Appalachian State University

Susan L. Slocum, Tourism and Events Management, George Mason University

Christina T. Cavaliere, Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies, Stockton University

Their volume will showcase the connection between the expanding craft beverage scene and urban and rural tourism. An emphasis will be placed on the connection between craft beverage production and sustainability elements of the quadruple bottom line that includes economic, social, environmental and climate change considerations.

Potential topics must focus on the overlap of craft beverages and tourism including but limited to:

• The scope of travel related to craft beverages

• The role of craft beverages in tourism development/expansion

• Economic, socio-cultural, environmental and/or climate change impacts of craft beverage-based tourism

• Travel behaviors, motivations and/or characteristics of craft beverage travelers

• Values and attitudes of craft beverages enthusiasts towards tourism development, host community, and/or sustainability issues

• Tourism partnerships between brewers and other tourism stakeholders

• Festivals, conferences and special events centered on craft beverages

• Managerial and policy implications of craft beverage tourism

• The role of craft beverages in tourism innovation or co-creation

• Best practices in craft beverage tourism

• Corporate social responsibility in craft beverage tourism

The  editors invite chapter proposals (1000 words) by October 1st. Proposals should include:

• The topic and how it fits into the framework of the book

• Key concepts of the chapter

• Methods (if the chapter is based on empirical research)

• Expected conclusions or outcomes

Chapters will be a maximum of 6,000 words and must not have been published or submitted elsewhere.

ASAP: a brief statement of interest in submitting a chapter October 1, 2015: Proposal submission deadline (1000 words) December 1, 2015: Notification of acceptance May 1, 2016: Full chapter submission (6,000 words)

October 1, 2016: Revised chapter submission

Anticipated publication in 2017
